The scrub jay I thought I'd forced into retreat is back with vigor now,
pecking with a year's renewed energy at my bathroom window and its
screen.

Where can I find owls -- the "realistic" type used as scarecrows -- to
post on the fence facing this window? The hired help at my local Home
Despot wasn't and Sunnyvale's nursery is gone.

Call bird rescue and request a hack box at your location. Then you
might be able to get REAL bably owls :) I think it s 523-bird

I'm in Berkeley and I saw this newsgroup here and thought I'd
check in and say hello. I guess I'm kind of an intermittent
gardner -- though this year I've got quite a few vegetables growing.
Corn radishes and carrots. Also I've got some pumpkins that
came up again and I think maybe they were fertilized with squash
so they have these giant yellow squash-like pumpkins things they
are making.

Anyway, just thought I'd check in and maybe stir the pot a little
bit.
